Scanning Electron Microcharms (2023)

A collaboration with The Magic Gumball Machine of Fate

The Magic Gumball Machine of Fate is an artist multiples project that distributes works by Canadian creators and makes art affordable for everyone.

Scanning Electron Microcharms by Emma Goudie is the 64th edition released via The Magic Gumball Machine of Fate.

Scanning Electron Microcharms are based upon photographs of fruit by a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). These Microcharms call for reflection on humans’ relationship with the microbial world and act as a reminder of the good that can come from nurturing that companionship with nature.

50 charms were available from The Magic Gumball Machine of Fate at Artscape Youngplace in Toronto. Now two of the gumballs reside with the AGO.

Ink Drawings

These drawings of the fruit were featured in the gumballs alongside a clay charm.
